About the area - Calis & Calis Beach
LOCATION: Calis & Calis Beach with a backdrop of
green mountains rising in the distance is located 5km (3 miles) from the districts main market town of Fethiye,
9 miles from Oludeniz and 50km (38 miles) east of Dalaman airport. The resort is
located on flat coastal land with a long narrow shingle beach 4km long (2.5
miles) and faces Fethiye
town across
the bay.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Hotels are mainly situated along
the seafront, which is a pedestrian thoroughfare. Back from the main
seafront lies a mix of villas,
apartments, further hotels together with shops, bars and restaurants. The area
is still being developed with construction of villas and apartments for holiday
homes or permanent living. In general the resort has a relaxed laid back
atmosphere. Ideal for those seeking a beach resort which is compact and
easily accessible.
BEACHES: A long narrow arc of dark sand and
shingle beach is lined with sun loungers and sun shades and extends round a
broad bay with sheltered waters. The beach area is backed by a pedestrian
promenade with grassy verges and small trees which is lit at night.
Turtles lay eggs in the sand at certain times of the year which are protected.
Some water sports available.
SHOPPING: A small selection of shops with
jewelry, clothes, shoes, beachwear and water sports equipment. During
the summer months many well stocked mini markets.
ENTERTAINMENT: Daytime - some water sports,
horse riding, Turkish baths and massage and good selection of
local trips and
excursions including local island boat trips, jeep safari, fishing etc for

Nightlife - Good selection of bars, cafes, restaurants and
cocktail bars, many on
 the
beachfront promenade and with views across the bay. Larger hotels offer
seasonal evening entertainments with live music and 'Turkish Nights'.
A more active night life can be found in nearby Fethiye town.
TRANSPORT: During the summer season frequent dolmus
(mini bus) which can be hailed any where on route to Fethiye town. A
'Water Taxi' service operates from the river in Calis across the bay to Fethiye
taking around 20 mins. Car
& Jeep hire, motor scooter and bicycle hire are all
available and taxis are plentiful.
